EDINBURGH ROAD STAIRS
Designed to reach a mezzanine study, this ladder features a substantial handrail and housed tapering treads making it a robust item of furniture.
Inspired by Finnish architecture master Alvaar Aalto and ladders found in naval architecture, the handrail rises up through a planked timber panel set into a glass floor . The reassuring solidity of the timber panel as a stepping off point also provides a connection to the floor below.
The treads taper subtly to the back edge providing a delicate elegance to the structure and the entire piece is finished using the traditional Scandinavian combination of Lye and White Oil.
