Nelson Drinks Cabinet
Bespoke, Black American Walnut drinks cabinet. Handmade in Scotland.
The spartan style of this drinks cabinet is contrasted by the rich colour and figure of the American Black Walnut used in its construction. As with our other collection pieces, structural details act as decorative elements which retain their intrinsic value by performing a basic function. The bridled leg framework is solidly assured and the pegged plank construction allows for the timber's inevitable desire to expand and contract.
Shelves for storing bottles have dovetailed "bookends" and a single brass dot punctuates the end of each shelves retaining bar. Traditional brass butt hinges are halved into the case and the doors open on a gull-wing principle, to ensure weight is distributed evenly.
The lid folds back to allow the top to act as serving tray in a social setting. The first internal shelf is set at a practical working height, with a small narrow shelf set back for whisky tumblers, while the bottom part of the cabinet can comfortably hold an array of glasses and other bottles.
The simple modular construction of the piece allows it to be tailored to meet bespoke requirements and the potential exists to add in features such as a practical utensil drawer or even a humidor.
